How to use melting point tester correctly
Jul 26, 2024

Pharmaceutical melting point apparatus is mainly used to measure the melting point of crystalline organic compounds such as medicine, dyes and spices in order to determine their purity. There are generally two measurement methods: photoelectric automatic detection and visual observation. Their melting process is measured or observed under the condition of rapid temperature increase to determine their melting point.

When using a pharmaceutical melting point tester, pay attention to the following items:

1. The sample must be dried as required, crushed in a dry and clean mill, and the capillary tube must be hit by a free fall to ensure that the sample is filled firmly, and the filling height should be consistent.

2. When inserting and removing the capillary tube, be careful to avoid breakage.

3. The linear heating rate is different, and the greenhouse results are inconsistent, requiring certain specifications.

4. Fill five capillary tubes with the sample to be tested at a time, and take the average of the three middle readings as the measurement result after each measurement.

5. Before inserting the capillary tube into the instrument, use a soft cloth to clean the contaminated material on the outside to avoid dirtying the oil bath.

6. If replace the oil bath tube, please follow the method described in the preparation work before use.

Different substances and different purities have different melting points. The determination of medicine melting point tester is one of the important methods to identify substances and their purity, which plays an important role in the chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry and other industries.
